Emerald is a type of Beryl mineral and is considered an ornamental stone. This mineral is in the group of silicates. The crystal structure of this stone is hexagonal and often appears as single, prismatic crystals with a hexagonal basal surface. Its color is green to dark green. But its powder is colorless. This mineral is usually semi-transparent to opaque and sometimes transparent and has a glassy luster.

The degree of hardness of Emerald is 7.5 to 8 and its density is 2.6 to 2.9. Emerald is weak in one of its directions.
