Saffron flowers come from Crocus sativus L., a member of the Iridaceae family. Other names associated with saffron include zafran, za’faran and Persian زعفران; the flowers are known as گل زعفران.
The saffron spice consists of the dried stigmas. This product instead covers the dried flowers and remaining floral parts after the saffron threads have been removed.
