It is a perennial plant of the Labiatae family, with thick and decumbent branches that lead to a cluster of red or purple flowers. Its leaves are dark green, fragrant, hairless, wider and larger than mint leaves and contain aromatic essential oils. The flavonoids present are apigenin and luteolin along with highly oxygenated flavones. Caffeic, chlorogenic and rosemarinic acids are the phenolic acids present, whereas the triterpenes located are a-amyrin, ursolic acid and sitosterol.
Everyone should know their temperament and choose foods which are more appropriate for them.
