Temperament: Hot and dry.
1- It is tonic for the heart, brain, stomach and intestines, eliminates bloating, kills gastrointestinal parasites, is diuretic and increases urination and menstruation secretion, and is an emmenagogue, strengthens the nervous system, strengthens white blood cells in the body, anti-toxin and relieves infections, it is clogs opener.
2- Brew it and drink it. It treats hiccups, gripes and urine intermittency, relieves uterine pain, crushes bladder stones, relieves cough, is antispasmodic and is useful for relieving asthma attacks.
3- Brew it, sweeten it with honey and drink it. It has a noticeable effect in relieving convulsion, especially respiratory convulsion, and is useful for asthma which is caused by moisture.

About

It is a perennial plant of the Labiatae family, with thick and decumbent branches that lead to a cluster of red or purple flowers. Its leaves are dark green, fragrant, hairless, wider and larger than mint leaves and contain aromatic essential oils. This plant grows in Iran in different areas of Alborz, Lar valley, Azerbaijan, Tabriz and other places.

Chemical Constituents

The whole plant yields a volatile oil (1-3%), flavonoids, phenolics and steroids. The main constituents of volatile oil are menthol (30-35%) and menthone (15-30%). Other components are menthyl acetate, menthofuran, cineole, limonene, neomenthol, isomenthol and a sesquiterpene (viridofloral). The flavonoids present are apigenin and luteolin along with highly oxygenated flavones. Caffeic, chlorogenic and rosemarinic acids are the phenolic acids present, whereas the triterpenes located are a-amyrin, ursolic acid and sitosterol.
